Is Managment Right For You?

December 26, 2011

Are you thinking that a manager job might be the best line of work for you?  There are a lot of benefits to working in management.  Do a good job as a manager, and your employer is sure to notice.  Of course, there are many different management fields out there to look at.  Maybe you are looking for the high pressure, high reward field of marketing management.  You might enjoy the always on the go world of restaurant management.  Perhaps the planning and guiding a team towards an ultimate goal as a project manager entices you.  Whatever the case, there are a couple of common skills that all of these managers must possess.

A good manager is always goal oriented.  This helps keep them on task and to quickly rectify problems when they arise.  Communication skills are one of the most important talents a good manager can have.  They need to be able to give clear and precise direction to their team.  Often they may find themselves having to deal with vendors, customers, and superiors.  The ability to communicate with people is a must.

Lastly, a strong work ethic and the willingness to put in the necessary hours to get the job done is needed.  There are no forty hour work weeks in management.  Someone whose goal each day is to put in their eight hours and get home is not going to enjoy working in management.

If you are a truck driver, it is hard to think of a worse scenario than having a broken down truck on the side of the road.  Imagine that you are 800 miles from any town that you know, you have a delivery to make and if you miss the deadline you will make less money on the trip, and your usually reliable truck just broke down on the side of the highway.  What do you do now?

These days there is a simple solution for these scenarios that did not always exist.  You need to find a mobile truck repair mechanic.  A mobile truck repair business generally operates out of a service vehicle.  That vehicle carries all of the parts and tools needed for most common truck repairs.  They will travel to you, get your truck fixed up, and send you on your way, without the need for expensive towing to a local garage.

Mobile truck repair is a fantastic solution for a driver whose truck has broken down.

Safety Vests for Protection

November 15, 2011

On a large construction site or work so near a busy intersection the safety of the workers is always a major concern.  By wearing bright colored safety vests, workers can remain highly visible to automobile drivers or people walking by the work zone.  The use of safety vests keeps the crew safe as well as the general public while the job has been completed.

Safety vests are also extremely useful on the scene of an emergency or accident.  Everyone from ambulance personnel, police officers, firefighters, and other workers responding to the scene of the accident will stand out from those involved and people passing by.  The bright colored safety clothing will give people driving by or those walking by a warning from a safe distance away.  The bright yellow or orange safety color has become a universal symbol for danger were caution.

Today safety vests have become popular for recreational use as well.  Hunters, joggers, and cyclists often make use of the bright vests to avoid accidents while enjoying their hobby.

Even the head of an organization can make mistakes.  When mistakes are made in marketing a company can lose a lot of money, people can lose their jobs, and you can even cost the company its very existence.  There are some mistakes that a marketing manager needs to be sure to avoid.

A marketing manager must always consult his team.  The saying goes that two heads are better than one, but a team of talented minds is even better.  It is always a good idea to bounce ideas off of colleagues.

A good marketing manager will follow up and double check any statistics or surveys used to make decisions in their marketing campaign.  They need to have a clear understanding of the sample size as well as the demographics used in putting together the data.  Basing a marketing campaign off of data that is misleading or outright incorrect that can cost the business millions of dollars.

Another mistake to avoid is trusting online information.  It is very convenient for people to google their questions or problems and search for a solution.  However, the reliability of the information pass to be called into question.  Much of the information on the Internet is open source, so how much can one trust the accuracy and reliability of information found online?  The source of the information must be completely understood and trusted.

These are just some of the pitfalls that fall under the marketing manager job description and must be avoided.  Everyday marketing managers find themselves faced with new challenges to overcome.
